Helping Minnesota
improve its response
to homelessness.

Mondane Group Inc. helps public agencies and community organizations improve the policies and programs people rely on to find and keep housing. We identify barriers, review plans, and recommend practical changes—drawing on personal experience of homelessness and professional work helping others navigate housing and support services.

01 / Our purpose

Better decisions.
More people
stably housed.

Our mission is to help prevent and end homelessness by bringing the voices of people who have experienced it into the decisions that shape housing policies and services. We connect lived experience with frontline social services knowledge to recommend practical, compassionate improvements that respect each person’s dignity and support lasting housing stability.

We understand both sides of the system: what it feels like to need housing and support, and what it takes to help someone navigate services. That perspective helps us see where a policy makes sense on paper but creates obstacles in everyday life.

02 / What we do

We turn experience
into practical recommendations.

State agencies, counties, nonprofits, and housing partners can engage us to review a program, understand a barrier, or improve a plan. Our contribution is clear feedback and recommendations that decision makers can use.

01

Homelessness policy & program review

Review proposed policies, applications, and service processes from the perspective of people who use them. Identify confusing steps, access barriers, and opportunities to make support easier to navigate.
What you receive: written feedback and practical recommendations.

02

Lived experience & community engagement

Contribute firsthand perspectives and support respectful discussions with people affected by housing instability. Help translate community concerns into clear themes for planning.
What you receive: a summary of concerns, priorities, and suggested actions.

03

Housing strategy & project advice

Participate in planning meetings and review project proposals or strategic plans. Help teams consider how their decisions affect housing access, service coordination, and long term stability.
What you receive: project feedback, meeting contributions, and recommendations matched to the agreed scope.

04

Veteran housing & landlord perspectives

Bring military service, veteran focused support experience, and firsthand knowledge of Section 8 rental partnerships to housing discussions.
What you receive: practical insight into service barriers, provider coordination, and landlord participation.

In everyday terms

What would an agency
ask us to do?

For example, an agency wants to make a housing assistance application easier to use. A consulting project could look like this:

  1. Understand the challenge.

Meet with the agency, review the application, and agree on the questions the project needs to answer.

  2. Look at it from both sides.

Consider the experience of someone seeking housing and the needs of the worker helping them. Point out confusing language, difficult requirements, or gaps between services.

  3. Recommend clear changes.

Provide feedback and suggested improvements. The agency considers the recommendations and decides what to change.

This is an illustrative project, showing the kind of consulting we offer.

03 / Who we are

Experience on
both sides of
housing instability.

Tyrese Lindsay has personally experienced homelessness and brings professional experience as a Senior Community Health Worker, Peer Support Specialist, U.S. Army veteran, and social services professional with Hennepin and Ramsey counties.

His work has included supporting veterans and people facing housing instability, helping people navigate benefits and services, coordinating with providers, and following through on practical needs. He understands how the experience of seeking help can differ from the way a program was designed.

Tyrese and his wife, Angel, also bring firsthand experience providing rental housing through Section 8 voucher partnerships. Together, these perspectives inform Mondane Group Inc.’s work with agencies, communities, and housing partners.

Mondane Group Inc. provides independent consulting. The professional experience described here does not imply endorsement by county agencies or the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs.

How public projects work

A defined project.
A clear contribution.

The Minnesota Interagency Council on Homelessness (MICH) Lived Experience Consultant Pool reflects the purpose behind this work: bringing people who have experienced homelessness into state policy and program decisions.

Under that program, an agency identifies a project and sets out its tasks, schedule, and budget in a work order contract. Consultants contribute their expertise to that defined assignment. Pool participation alone does not guarantee a project.

Mondane Group’s consulting approach is similarly practical: understand the assignment, agree on what will be delivered, contribute lived and professional experience, and provide useful recommendations. This work can inform broader efforts such as Minnesota’s Crossroads to Justice homelessness strategy.

Questions about our work

Consulting, explained.

Who works with Mondane Group?

Public agencies, counties, nonprofits, and housing partners seeking lived experience insight into homelessness prevention, housing programs, or service coordination.

What does lived experience consulting mean?

It means using firsthand knowledge of homelessness to help organizations understand how policies and services affect real people. We combine that knowledge with community health, peer support, and social services experience to suggest improvements.

What does a consulting project produce?

Depending on the agreed scope, our contribution may include a review of a policy or application, participation in planning meetings, a summary of community input, or written recommendations. Tasks, deadlines, and deliverables are agreed before work begins.

Are consulting inquiries the same as applying for housing?

This website connects organizations and partners with our consulting services. Contacting us does not submit a housing application or reserve a housing placement.
